Richard Di Natale tears into the government for their petty squabbling, their irresponsible leadership, and their appalling track record on serious issues facing Australia. Absolutely amazing.
“I’m so proud to say that the Liberals were the forerunners, the trend setters, for this sort of illegal violation of human rights and discrimination,” Morrison proudly said during a radio interview.
“We were xenophobic towards refugees before it was cool,” the former Immigration Minister said as he sipped his cold brew coffee and thought about writing a novel about a thinly veiled fictional version of himself.
“Now it’s like, so mainstream you know, that almost everyone’s doing it… But I just want to reiterate: Australia is still a shining example to the world of cruel and unusual immigration policies with how we treat Asylum Seekers and we should never forget that,” Morrison emphasized, prouder than he should be.
honestly at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if Harold fucking Holt himself walked out of the ocean and into parliament and announced himself prime minister
He’s a former police officer turned Liberal politician from Queensland representing the electorate of Dickson since 2001. This is how he’s voted on a few issues to help you understand what he’s like (a more comprehensive list can be found on TheyVoteForYou.org)
Decreasing availability to welfare payments (and then drug
testing those who are on them, a discriminatory practice) as well as then
putting people on welfare on restricted debit cards to control what they can
and can’t buy
He’s voted for deregulating university fees (which would give
students massive amounts of debt to pay off over their life time)
He has voted for decreasing funding to the ABC and SBS
He was for getting rid of penalty rates (which negatively
affects low income earners who relied on that extra money)
He voted to increase his own paycheck and parliamentary
entitlements
Wants to reduce corporate tax rates
Strengthening gun control laws (everyone has at least one
agreeable thing and we found it)
He’s voted against protections for refugees (duh, he hates them)
Voted against increasing Aboriginal land rights (and boycotted
Rudd’s apology to the Stolen Generation back in 2008, though has since said he
regrets that)
Voted against protecting the Great Barrier Reef (which is dying
from climate change – something the Liberal party refuses to act on, even
removing the emissions reduction target from the National Energy Guarantee
legislation)
He’s voted against increasing investment into renewable energy
He voted against a Royal Commission into Violence and Abuse
against People With Disabilities
He voted No in the same sex marriage plebiscite (so he’s
homophobic)
Voted against increasing media diversity in Australia (which
suits him just fine as the Murdoch media empire is pro-Liberal and will push to
get him in so he can protect them from paying tax as he’s for corporate tax
cuts)
He’s most famous for in the past few
years taking over dealing with refugees from former Minister of Immigration Scott Morrison. Here’s just a few details about that:
The ongoing limbo is incredibly stressful to refugees. These
people are innocent. There’s no doubt that they’re genuine refugees and not a
threat to Australia and yet they’re continued to be detained as an example of
our hard stance on refugees
Morrison might contest against Dutton and Turnbull could sit out on a leadership challenge. He also might quit his seat, causing a by-election. The Liberals have a 1 seat majority so might lose their majority, or just go straight into a general election. If they survive Dutton might be found ineligible due to Section 44. This is a wild shit show. This is an absolute fucking mess.
