Something I just caught on a re-watch of Avengers: Infinity War, and it sort of plays into my no-good awful theory that Tony will be the last surviving member of the Avengers, but, when Red Skull shows Thanos where he can find the Soul Stone, he says something I didn’t really think about at first, but now I am fixated on it:

What you seek lies in front of you. As does what you fear.

Given I think there’s been a lot of foreshadowing Tony is gonna get the Soul Stone (the fact he’s probably gonna wield the gauntlet so thus he needs control of it; the “cursed with knowledge”/”I know your soul”; Tony placed on the Soul Stone in the marketing; etc) then it goes to say that Tony’s fear is involved in acquiring it – and he’s going to have to make a sacrifice.

And his deepest fear is the Avengers dying while he survives. That’s what he saw in his Age of Ultron vision. It’s also something Tony was convinced would happen – and, so far, Tony has a really odd penchant for prophecy.

Several quotes allude to what Tony saw being his worst nightmare. Wanda herself says, “I saw Stark’s fear, I knew it would control him, make him self-destruct.” Maria Hill says that people in Ultron and the twins’ path are “left in a fugue state” going on about “old memories” (like what Natasha saw) and “worst fears” (what Tony saw). And then Nick Fury says, “The Maximoff girl, she’s working you, Stark. Playing on your fear.”

All of this makes me very nervous.
